I Love Myself

Just follow the rules

Road Rage

Yesterday I was driving in the city, ready to leave for my journey to my small town. I had been running around all day and just wanted to get on the road. I had to pick something up for my fiance and so I was on a service road.  As I was pulling off (I was turning right and then quickly turning left) vehicles where approaching as they had just gotten a green light.  I didn’t want to have to be stuck behind these vehicles waiting for another red light behind them and a pause in the traffic. Quickly I realized that the closest vehicle approaching was turning, the signal light was on and I assumed this gave me enough time to turn on to the road and lane change before I came up to my next turn. Apparently this was not the case and the car was actually turning at the next turn after the service road.  I mistakenly cut this lady off, but as quickly as I realized it I got out of the lane. Angry, she blew her horn at me and flipped me off.

Now that you know the story this is where my actual thoughts come in.  What I did was an accident, and what most drivers do they do with out realizing.  I didn’t see that car and think, I feel like ruining their day so I am going to cut them off and make them loose a second of precious life.

I realize that me cutting them off is dangerous but in all honesty if the woman decided to step on the break, neither of us would have died.

Anyways. My point is don’t become so upset when you are behind the wheel. If you are stopped at a four way stop and somebody takes your turn, you have lost maybe 3 seconds of your life. If you become angry you lose much more then 3 seconds. If somebody is driving slowly, maybe they have been in an accident recently and are getting used to the road. Perhaps if some one has stopped in the middle of the street, trying to get into a full lane, you should help them out, wait and let them through. Not many people do this and even though they can’t thank you, they are.  I don’t understand what is so important that you can’t help out your fellow kind.  Perhaps if you do this, and more people do this, then we will all work together and get to the places we need to go.  If you help some one out of a mistake, they will help you.

As for the rush you are in. Why are you in such a rush?  I understand if you are dying, or about to give birth, perhaps then the three seconds will matter, but if you just want to get home from work, or are late for the dentist, or even just going out with friends to go shopping, what is the rush?  Slow down and appreciate life.

RULE 10: Help your fellow humans, someday you may need their help.

RULE 11: Slow down. Don’t rush past life because then you miss it all.
